The Charm City Circulator Orange Route will run on a modified schedule, Monday, January 18, 2010: 9:00am - 8:00pm.

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation today announced the street closures and parking restrictions in effect for the 10th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade. The parade will be held on Monday, January 18, 2010 beginning at 12:00 noon, rain or shine. Presented by Forman Mills, the event will celebrate the life of one of America's most influential civil rights activists and will pay homage to others continuing his legacy.

Parade participants will assemble in the vicinity of the State Office Complex in west Baltimore at Eutaw and Preston Streets. The parade will step off at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Eutaw Street and proceed south along Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to Baltimore Street where it will disband. During the event, Special Traffic Enforcement Officers (STEO’s) will assist the Baltimore City Police with the flow of traffic at intersections along the parade route. Patrons attending the event are encouraged to arrive early and use parking facilities in the surrounding areas. Motorists traveling in this vicinity should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed to through traffic on Monday, January 18, 2009:

  • Eutaw Street between Dolphin Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard from 6:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with parking prohibited
  • Preston Street between Madison Avenue and Eutaw Street from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with parking prohibited
  • Madison Street between Dolphin Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with parking prohibited
  • Baltimore Street between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Poppleton Street from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with parking prohibited
  • Fremont Avenue between Baltimore and Fayette Streets from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with parking prohibited
  • Southbound Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard between Eutaw Street and Washington Boulevard from 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
  • The left turn lane of northbound Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard from Washington Boulevard to Eutaw Street between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • Franklin Street between Greene Street and Fremont Avenue from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Access to westbound I-70 will be permitted.

Detours:

  • Southbound Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard traffic destined for I-95 or I-395 will be detoured south on Eutaw Street, west on Franklin Street, south on Greene Street, then to Russell Street to access I-95 or west on Washington Boulevard to access I-395.
  • Westbound Franklin Street traffic will be detoured right on Pennsylvania Avenue, left on Dolphin Street, left on Fremont Avenue and then back to westbound Franklin Street.
