Phase II of the Snow Emergency Plan is Now in Effect.

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation today announced that Phase I of the Snow Emergency Plan has been implemented in Baltimore City. This means that all vehicles traveling on city roadways must be equipped with snow tires, all season radials or chains.

In addition, Phase II of the Snow Emergency Plan will be implemented at 6:00 this evening. In addtition to having snow tires, all season radials or chains, parking is prohibited on designated Snow Emergency Routes. Snow Emergency Routes are clearly marked and vehicles parked along these designated roadways during a snow emergency will be relocated.

During a Phase II snow emergency, citizens may park at designated schools equipped with parking lots. These schools include Western High School at the corner of Falls Road and Coldspring Lane; Walbrook High School at 2000 Edgewood Street; Thomas G. Hayes Elementary School at 601 N. Central Avenue; William Pinderhughes Elementary at 1200 N. Fremont Avenue; Patterson High School at 100 Kane Street; Thurgood Marshall Middle School at 5000 Truesdale Avenue and Moravia Road; and the Edmondson Westside Skill Center on Athol Avenue.

Please note that the Water Taxi Harbor Connector will not be operating today due to the inclement weather. In addition, Charm City Circulator service will be suspended at 6:00pm this evening and will not be in operation on Saturday, February 06, 2010.

Citizens who must travel today are strongly advised to drive with extreme caution. Motorists should maintain safe following distance from snow plows and other vehicles on the roadways.
