Phase I of the Snow Emergency Plan Now Lifted in Baltimore City

Tuesday, February 23

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that Phase I of the Snow Emergency Plan has been lifted in Baltimore City. This means that vehicles traveling on city roadways no longer need to be equipped with snow tires, all weather radials or chains.

Motorists should proceed with caution while traveling, as snow removal and pothole repair crews continue working along city roadways. Drivers should be on the watch for pedestrians, as people resort to walking in the streets due to snow covered sidewalks.

Residents can greatly help the city by clearing snow away from storm drains and fire hydrants in their communities. In addition, citizens can assist city students by shoveling sidewalks so that children will have safe routes to schools and bus stops.
